KNITTING CLASSES
Pattern Drafting and Knitting Using Japanese Techniques
Eight Week Class - $200
This class is like no other. During class, students will knit a round-neck pullover vest or shell from scratch using Japanese techniques. Learn the exacting Japanese techniques of drafting your own personalized patterns. This is an amazing opportunity that you won't find anywhere else!

Beaded Scarf Class
2-Hour Class - $30
Learn to knit with beads and create an elegantly textured scarf. You will learn to cast on and knit with beads and learn the three-needle bind off, Japanese style. Kits are available for purchase on the KITS - Beaded Scarves page under the SHOP heading of this website. You may also bring your own yarn and beads.

Festive Christmas Stocking
2-Hour Class - $30
Create your own Festive Christmas Stocking. A fast knit, you use size 11 needles. Combine several yarns together to create your own special look. This is knitted flat, so it is beginner friendly, and there is a lot of fun in choosing your yarns. Makes a good stash buster project or gives a good excuse to buy more yarn.

Basic Entrelac
3-Hour Class - $45
This is a 3-hour class in which you will be creating your own sampler. Entrelac can be knit back-and-forth or circular. We will be knitting back-and-forth and learning how to knit backwards. Entrelac makes beautiful scarves, shawls, hats, sweaters, afghans, baby blankets and more. Try a baby blanket pattern for testing you new learned skills.

Portuguese Knitting
2-Hour Class - $30
Are you suffering from arthritis or carpal tunnel? Are your purl stitch rows larger than your knit stitch rows? Do you like learning new ways to knit and purl? HATE to purl? You're in luck - this method is for you. You hold your yarn around your neck or on a pin, making the working yarn easily available. Tension is more uniform and requires fewer movements. This style is popular in Greece, Turkey, Egypt, and Peru. You will learn how to knit, purl, bind off, yarn-over increase, K2 together, SSK decrease and K1,P1 rib.

Beginning Knitting Series #1 - Cast On, Knit, Bind Off
2-Hour Class - $30
We will learn long tail cast on, knit, and bind off. You can make a scarf, dishcloth, or start a square for a learn-to-knit afghan, based on Barbara Walker's Learn to Knit Afghan Book. You can just practice knitting with no project in mind if you would like.

Beginning Knitting Series #2 - Purl, Stockinette, Rib
2-Hour Class - $30
We will learn to purl, stockinette stitch, rib, joining a new color and a new cast on. Beginning Knitting Series #1 is a prerequisite for new knitters.

Beginning Knitting Series #3 - Increases and Decreases
2-Hour Class - $30
We will learn several methods of increases and decreases, and will discuss which method to use in various projects and why. Students will leave class with examples of each method. Beginning Knitting Series 1# and #2 are prerequisites for new knitters.

Beginning Knitting Series #4 - Pattern Reading
2-Hour Class - $30
We will review several patterns and explain how they translate into actually knitting your project. We will also cover common pattern abbreviations and what they mean.

Beginning Knitting Series #5 - Finishing
2-Hour Class - $30
We will learn to seam stockinette and garter stitch, pick up and knit stitches, 3-needle bind off Japanese and American style (this is used to join shoulder seams), blocking, and what to think about before you even start your garment to make the finishing go easier and look nicer. Beginning Knitting Series #1 and #2 are prerequisites for new knitters.

Magical Basket Weave Hat
2-Hour Class - $30
This class is a little bit of this, and a little bit of that... Come try out a little bit of unconventional knitting. Suitable for beginners - only need to know how to knit and purl and have an open mind. You will learn a little bit of cable knitting, a little bit of entrelac, jogless joins, knitting in the round, knitting back and forth, and how to knit backwards, all in this one quick knitting fun hat.

Socks on 2 Circulars/Cuff Down
3 Classes, 4-Hours Total Instruction - $60
Join the wonderful world of sock knitting. Learn the basic elements in knitting a sock from the cuff down on two circular needles. The class will allow plenty of time to practice class material, with the aim of completing a sock by the end of the third session.

2 Socks on 2 Circulars
2 Classes, 4-Hours Total Instruction - $60
Are you a person in a hurry? Come learn to knit two socks at a time using 2 circular needles. Socks can be knitted from two balls of yarn, or you can purchase one of Caryn's sock blanks from Knit2gether. One sock blank provides the yarn for both socks.
Beginning Brioche
2-Hour Class - $30
Learn the brioche knit and purl stitch, two color brioche, and increasing and decreasing in brioche (time permitting). We will discuss what to look for in yarns and characteristics of brioche

Reversible Geometric Scarf
2-Hour Class - $30
Amaze your friends with this scarf that has two different designs. Using only one color per row, you can achieve a different design on each side. You must be able to knit and purl.

Zuzu Petals Cowl
1-Hour Class - $15
If you tried the original Zuzu Petals pattern to make a cowl and the fit around the neck was too tight and you are wondering what to do, this class is for you. We will learn how to manipulate gradient yarns so they wind up where you want them in the scarf. Check my color sample knitted machine blanks that have been specifically dyed for this pattern. Custom dye orders also done. Pattern may be purchased through Knit2gether or Ravelry.

Mini Christmas Ornaments
2-Hour Class - $30
We will start a mini Christmas stocking ornament in the class. Stocking will be knitted flat. Patterns for stocking ornaments in-the-round and for mittens will be provided.

Short Rows
3-Hour Class - $45
This class teaches the diversity of short rows techniques. Learn each technique, American, Japanese, and German​. All are wonderful ways to work short rows. When you complete the class, you can decide which one is your favorite.

Refootable Socks
2-Hour Class - $30
Tired of having socks with perfectly good tops and worn out bottoms? This may be your solution. Learn how to knit a refootable sock from the cuff down. The heel, bottom, and toes can easily be taken out later (when worn out) and re-knit. Sock knitting experience required. Pattern for knitting sock using two circular needles with sock weight yarn provided.

Fair Isle/Stranded Knitting
2-Hour Class - $30
Traditional Fair Isle knitting incorporates two colors of yarn in each row to create a variety of patterns. This class will cover the basic techniques of holding two colors of yarn, catching long floats, knitting with correct tension, chart reading, knitting and gauge swatches in the round.

Bean Bag/Learn to Knit for Kids
2-Hour Class - $30
For kids who want to learn to knit and need some basic instructions, this is your class. You will learn to cast on, knit, and bind off. You will make a bean bag to have as your first knitting project.

Invisible Stranding Class
2-Hour Class - $30
Invisible stranding allows you to carry yarn across any number of stitches without catching the floats. Catching the floats creates a visible pucker in your knitting and often allows the other color to show through. Invisible stranding eliminates both of these problems.
Steek & Zipper Cup Cozy
2-Hour Class - $30
Student must know how to knit fair isle in the round before taking this class. Students will knit a cup cozy and learn how to steek and sew in a zipper. The cup cozy must be knitted before the start of class. Students will receive the pattern and class supply list after registering and paying for the class.
Knitting Workshops

Christmas K.A.L. Mitten Garland Advent Calendar
4 Two-Hour Workshops - $40
Cost of workshop does not include supplies which can be purchased at Bayshore Yarns. This series of workshops is to make a non-traditional Advent calendar made up of knitted mittens with the dates on them and hung as a garland. Knitting instructor Caryn Ackerman will be available at each workshop to answer questions and offer help. Up for something different? This may be for you.

Christmas Stocking
4 Two-Hour Workshops - $40
Cost of workshop does not include the pattern (Caryn's Creations Basic Christmas Stocking - $5). This series of workshops starts with a basic stocking and let you make it your own by filling in with designs of your choosing. Knitting instructor Caryn Ackerman will be available at each workshop for any assistance you may need. Plain old stocking? Bah, humbug! Make it your own with your special designs.

Payment Options
Class registration is on a first-come-first-served basis. We accept advance payments from PayPal using your PayPal account or your credit or debit card if you don't have a PayPal account (guest checkout), check, or money orders. You will be given further instructions upon registration.

Refund Policy
Once registered, you may cancel up to seven days before class begins for a full refund. If you cancel later than that, I will issue a refund only if I am able to fill your spot. If I cancel a class for any reason, I will issue a refund.
